Tagged!

Genevieve tagged me! So now I've gotta play!

These are the rules…. each player starts with 7 random facts about themselves on their Blog. People who are tagged need to blog 7 facts about themselves and post the rules as well. At the end of their blog list 7 people you are tagging. Let them know that they are tagged by leaving them a comment. My facts are:

1. I'm a brat. Not a spoiled brat, just a brat. I also prefer another title on occasion... Bitch by Meridith Brooks spells it out for ya! ;)
2. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Thanksgiving is my second because it revolves around food and family.
3. I dream of living in Seattle.
4. I'm not ONLY but I get really happy when it rains.
5. Of my 4 ex-boyfriends (before dating Matthew) I'm still good friends with #1 and #3... #3 more so... in fact Matthew and I went to see Die Hard with him and some other friends tonight.
6. My happy little fantasy is to get to be Tinkerbell in the fireworks show at Disneyland.
7. As much as I love dark movies and Halloweenie stuff, I thought The Crow was really passe.

I now tag: Laura, Peas, Gary, Sheila, Britt, Sonnya and Sarah to re post and tag someone else!

It's like 1993 today...

So... I'm driving around town looking for Cotton Candy flavored Smackers for my wonderful sister-in-law's birthday* listening to my stereo in the car on random play. It's a Beautiful Life by Ace of Base+ comes on and no joke... a kid in a BRAND NEW looking Stussy shirt runs out in front of me as I'm driving through the parking lot. So I get home and google them. Yes, they're still in comission^! But it was a shirt that was SO popular when I was a kid, I swear at that moment I thought I was back in 6th grade again. Except for the fact that I had boobs and could drive. Ha ha! I wish I could find the stinking shirt online but it predates the internet (okay not factually, but I promise there weren't a lot of people putting up Stussy shirt designs in '95). It was the black one with the big round logo in back with red, yellow and green stripes. Anyone who's seen it will remember it. Just a great laugh today if nothing else

*We'd had a conversation about how she can't seem to find them anymore and I found them a couple weeks back... and fortunately she doesn't read my blog or I couldn't tell you this story now LOL

+Yes, I still proudly admit to listening to and loving them. I also listen to the Spice Girls on a regular basis... the playlist is called "Europop Trash" on my iPod. ;)

^Okay, I've seen the logo on things in recent years but this particular shirt is one of the first ones I ever remember seeing and I haven't seen it in brand new condition since middle school.

Cards...

I've been making a lot of hybrid cards lately. Well, not really hybrid. More like making the card on PSE, printing it and then matting it on cardstock and not doing much else to it but you get the idea.

This was for Matthew's mother for her birthday. She LOVES cake. I used stuff from Shabby Princess' Occasions kit, and the Double Doodle Font. I mounted this one to Bazzill bling (bubblegum pink) with rounded corners.

I was supposed to make her favorite pasta salad for her birthday dinner but then I got really sick so I made this to stick in her card to promise I'd make it for her. All this stuff is Gina Miller's, including the sketch template. I mounted this to tirquoise Bazzill Bling.

Father's Day card. It's also from SP's Occasions. I also got the buttons on cardboard from the Birthday Bash grabbag.

DH's gift to his dad. More SP stuff, mostly Occasions (can you tell I just LOVE that kit?).

These are both Valerie Foster. I LOVE her stuff. This stuff is from her Love Buzz digital kit. The picture was altered with her Precious Things kit actions. I met her at Scrapbook.com on the digiboards and followed her to her first site, embellies.com (which I don't think is around anymore), then to doyoudigi.com, her hybridish site (she sells hybrid kits there). She's now at Alt+Scrap. She's awesome!

I feel emo

That is how sick I am. It's rather sad really. Next time you have a sore throat... go to your local Korean market and get some Citron tea. It's like lemon/citrus marmalade but you put it in hot water. I'm telling you it's the BEST stuff. It gets rid of all that gooey stuff in your throat and is oh so soothing!

People magazine also had an article about Harry possibly dying in this last book. The article included a parent's guide to helping children cope if such a situation was needed. (Courtesy of Mugglenet.com)

I'm done now. Off to bed.

It's been awhile

Since I posted some funny videos. If you've ever seen David Blaine you'll get a kick out of these two.

I LOVE those two "idiots".

I was raised in Moz Angeles

Okay. To be fair, it was Los Angeles' suburbia. But I'm such an LA girl at heart. I LOVE the city. I don't mind the traffic (probably because I don't drive in it EVERY day) and there is a TON of cool stuff to do there. One of which I did last night.

I went here:
To see him:
It was awesome! They also annouced before the show that he was electing to film the performance "Morrissey: Live at the Hollywood Bowl." Which means I'll eventually get to buy the show on DVD or something! I'm so excited for that fact because I was REALLY bummed to find out that we weren't allowed to bring in cameras. When we got there they barely looked in our bags, thusly we could have TOTALLY smuggled a camera in Trena's bag. Grr! I had wanted to bring a disposable one so that in case we got caught no big deal right? I totally ran out of time though. Now I know for the next time I go to the Bowl at least... and I have a total excuse to buy the DVD!!
He sang Irish Blood, English Heart and How Soon is Now? (my favorite Morrissey and Smiths songs respectively). I was bummed that he didn't sing Big Mouth Strikes Again, but we knew from researching other play lists from previous shows on this tour it was unlikely. I was really bummed for Trena because she really wanted him to sing Suedehead and he didn't (which HAS been on the lists). He did sing There Is a Light that Never Goes Out though. I'm pretty sure he closes all his shows with that one. We also got to hear Everyday Is Like Sunday, The Last of the Famous International Playboys, Life is a Pigsty, Girlfriend in a Coma, I Will See You in Far Off Places, The First of the Gang to Die and You Have Killed Me. I'm sure there were more, but of course now it's all jumbled in my head with songs that I've been listening to for weeks and now I can't remember if I actually heard them last night or if they're fresh in my mind because I've been listening to said compilation all morning.
And if you don't know Morrissey or The Smiths... I'm telling you NOW to look into them. You have no idea what you're missing!!

This really rocked my Photoshop world

Christine Smith, formerly with The Digi Chick, and now running ScrapQuick blogged this AWESOME tip.

Instead of dragging elements into your layout from an opened, separate file (your little tray at the bottom) you can just open it IN your open project! Open "file" and select the "place" option! Maybe I'm one of the last to know this... but I'm SO glad she mentioned it on her blog!

I’m not a Pitt fan

Don’t get me wrong, the man IS gorgeous. I’m just not into him. I enjoy the few of his movies he’s been in (that I’ve seen), enjoy the eye candy, and move on. I saw Troy for Orlando and extra credit (I happened to be taking western civ. that semester), saw Snatch because it was on at a party, Mr. & Mrs. Smith for Angelina, Ocean’s Eleven because you just gotta… you get the idea. I’ve never seen Seven, Legends of the Fall, Fight Club, Babel or most of his “great works”.

I think it’s because I’ve never liked Mr. Popularity types. In high school I was able to acknowledge that the popular guys were cute but never had crushes on them or daydreamed about going to prom with them. The guys I liked had their own air of cuteness, and usually made me laugh a lot. That’s why I always say that if I had met Matthew in HS I’d never had married him. He was one of THOSE guys. He wasn’t Mr. Popular, but he was an obvious cutie with girls all over him. I think it’s the competition factor. Why would I want a guy that all the other chicks want and I’d have to fight them off all the time? Not interested. I actually would have had a crush on his funny/“geeky” brother. Funny how timing in life is so important huh?

I think it’s carried over into my celebrity crush thing too. Orlando being the exception, I’m not really into the guys that everyone is into. When I first “fell in love” with Johnny I was like 6 or 7. Not many little girls my age and up through middle school were into him because he was “old”. I wasn’t into Jonathan Brandis, the Cameron brothers (K and M) or anyone in New Kids on the Block, but I loved JD. I went through a Jonathan Taylor Thomas phase (middle kid on Home Improvement) but in my defense, he wasn’t THAT popular. :P I liked Leonardo Dicaprio, but got annoyed by a lot of the attention he got for William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (one of my favorites) and totally turned off after Titanic. I still like him as an actor, he’s improved by leaps and bounds the last couple years (if you haven’t seen The Aviator or The Departed, you MUST) and I think I’m a fan again.

Anyway, back to the point of this entry. My morning show was giving away tickets to the premier screening of Ocean’s Thirteen for the umpteenth time this morning. They called the game Pitt Stop and they played clips from Brad Pitt movies and you had to identify them to get into the drawing to get the tickets. They played clips from (in this order): Snatch, Seven, Babel, Troy and Fight Club. By the time they reached the clip for Fight Club they announced that because no one had been able to guess any yet that it was sudden death (the first person to be smart enough to figure it out wins). Now… I knew them ALL but Babel because I don’t know anything about that movie, but if I had I know I would have been able to figure it out. The clips were THAT obvious folks. They said if you’re a big Pitt fan it should have been easy. I’m not and I was able to do it.

Snatch- some of his gibberish talking to another guy with a thick cockney accent (he plays an Irish gypsy in that movie and the running joke is the accent is so crazy that you can’t understand a word he says during the entire movie except for the occasional “f*ck”). The guess was some movie I’d never heard of.
Seven- some guy describing how he killed a woman and BP protesting having to listen to it (I guess there was a line about wrath in there somewhere too, but I never heard it). The guess was Fight Club.

Babel- something about a girl getting shot in the neck and please call the embassy. Obvious enough I’m sure if I knew the plot of the movie. The guess was Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Troy- I can’t remember WHERE in the movie it was but the name Achilles was said at least 4 times during it and there was a bunch of “people remember kings, not warriors” b.s. in it too. That guy was taking too long so you could tell he was trying to Google it, they hung up on him.

Fight Club- BP was asking some guy to punch him and must have had the word “fight” in it 6 times… that guy finally got it right.

You know what was really sad about the whole thing? Last week they did the same thing with George Clooney (I’ve seen even LESS of his movies) and was able to identify 3 of them… one of which I’d never seen either (Good Night and Good Luck and it was a clip where they were talking about TV and ratings). The other 2 were From Dusk ‘Til Dawn and Batman and Robin (he was a HORRIBLE Batman btw).

Since we have all this movie talk… have you heard about the new program at select Regal theaters? They have a pager thing they give you that you can let the manager know when someone/thing is being disruptive during the movie. No more having to get up and go find someone! You just have to push a little button!! :D What a great idea!!

Hodge Podge Challenge

For this week's Hodge Podge challenge. I decided to step up and join in on another. I'm not as great a scrapper as some of the other ladies that do this stuff, but it sure helps to pull me out of my "box" and scrap much better. All my favorites lately have been for blog challenges. I've got a few more in the wings. I hope to get them ready in the next few days.
